World Green Building Council
Cristina Gamboa is the CEO of the Colombia Green Building Council (Consejo Colombiano de Construcción Sostenible, CCCS). She joined this organisation in August 2009 after a 16 year career in economic research, journalism and international relations, both in Colombia and the USA. Her degrees include a BA in Economics from University of Los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia) and a MA in Economics and International Relations from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS, Washington DC).
Cristina actively participates in several networks committed to sustainable development, low carbon growth and the transformation of the built environment towards sustainability. She joined the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) Board of Directors in July of 2013 and has been Treasurer, Chair of the Audit Committee and Chair of the Americas Regional Network. Currently she serves as Vice Chair of the WorldGBC Board of Directors and Incoming Chair of LEED Steering Committee, the global governing body for the LEED standards, by designation of the US Green Building Council Board of Directors.
Thanks to her active and participatory leadership and thorough knowledge of the construction industry and its sustainability challenges, the CCCS has met significant milestones that have enabled the sustainable construction industry to become mainstream in Colombia.
Recent keynote conferences include Andean Real Estate Forum 2016, 3GF IADB Chile Forum 2015, GBC Costa Rica Conference 2015, Perú Green Build 2014, Greenbuilding Brazil 2014, Greenbuild 2013, and South Africa Green Building Annual Convention 2013.
Before joining the Colombia GBC, Cristina worked at the think tank Fedesarrollo, the Colombian Construction Trade Guild, Dinero Magazine, the World Bank, the Embassy of Colombia in Washington DC, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and as an assistant professor at University of Los Andes.
