ÖGNI is an NGO founded in 2009 by 125 companies and institutions from the construction and real estate industries with the aim of enabling the paradigm shift of the sector towards sustainability.
Our point of departure is the fact that the construction and real estate industry accounts for 50 per cent of resources, 40 per cent of energy and 30 per cent of emissions. Besides, the prevention of the Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) is a strong motivation for our activities.
ÖGNI applies the 3-P approach meaning products, processes and persons, and places its focus on the consideration of the life cycle, stressing the balance between ecology, economy and socio-cultural factors.
The members of ÖGNI develop recommendations, codes and manuals in partnership and with a result-oriented and internationally connected approach. These documents should help the implementation of sustainable products and processes by persons equipped with specialist knowledge about sustainability.
