Thursday 26th January 2017

ASSA ABLOY has today become an official Regional Partner of the World Green Building Council’s Europe Regional Network.

ASSA ABLOY, the largest global supplier of intelligent lock and security solutions, has joined Europe’s largest sustainable building network as its latest partner, to collaborate on driving sustainability and innovation across Europe’s building sector.

WorldGBC’s Europe Regional Network represents a community of 24 Green Building Councils (GBCs), 8 Regional Partners and over 5,000 company members who cooperate closely to support the growth of the sustainable building movement in Europe.

ASSA ABLOY is the largest global supplier of intelligent lock and security solutions. Year-end 2015, The Group had sales of SEK 68 billion and 46,000 employees. In the fast-growing electromechanical security segment, the Group has a leading position in areas such as access control, identification technology, entrance automation and hotel security. ASSA ABLOY has a complete range of door opening solutions that are energy efficient and all major product lines are covered by Environmental Product Declarations.

In 2017 the Europe Regional Network and its partners will be heavily focused on supporting the European Commission in finalizing and launching a central piece of EU sustainable building assessment policy. This ‘framework’ of core performance indicators is anticipated to form the basis of future sustainable building policy in the region.

James Drinkwater, Regional Director of WorldGBC’s Europe Regional Network, said: “ASSA ABLOY is a recognised market leader that takes the lifecycle impacts of its products seriously – proven by having over 200 product specific Environmental Product Declarations.

“Its proven capacity to innovate as one of Forbes’ Top 100 Most Innovative Companies, and its team’s knowledge and dedication around spreading product lifecycle assessment will be a great asset to our work in the years ahead.”

Ulf Södergren, CTO and overall responsible for Sustainability within ASSA ABLOY, said: “We’re proud to have become an official partner of the World Green Building Council’s Europe Regional Network. Being a partner of the World Green Building Council will allow us to further support the sustainability agenda in the built environment.
