EmiratesGBC launches interactive website to promote green homes, offices & schools

Thursday 20th July 2017

Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) has launched a brand-new interactive website called Green Building Tooltips to encourage green building best practices in homes, offices and schools.

The website, powered by BASF and Legrand (EmiratesGBC corporate members), provides a rich online resource to help the construction industry and community improve the sustainability of their buildings by providing relevant information for an audience of varying levels of technical knowledge. The interactive designs cover three different building types - a home, school and an office building.

Easy to access and navigate, the Green Building Tooltips website will help developers who are currently building new projects, and those seeking to retrofit their buildings, as well as members of the public who wish to pursue a greener lifestyle.

The best practices recommended in the Tooltips - which include installing rooftop panels to generate onsite energy, replacing incandescent light bulbs with LEDs to reduce energy used for lighting by up to 87%, and installing climate-efficient windows - will help make a tangible difference in promoting a greener environment. In addition to achieving savings on utility bills, the tips suggested through the online resource will help reduce the carbon footprint of the built environment, responsible for around 30 per cent of global carbon emissions.

Saeed Al Abbar, Chairman of Emirates Green Building Council, said: “The new EmiratesGBC Green Building Tooltips webpage is the first and only one of its kind initiative in the region that provides valuable guidance and insights for building users and the industry to implement sustainability best practices.

“The free-to-access resources brings incredible knowledge on how to promote energy and water efficiency in built environments. We are thankful to BASF and Legrand who have eagerly supported this initiative and to the experts who contributed to this resource base.”

BASF is a Regional Partner of WorldGBC’s Europe Regional Network.

The EmiratesGBC Green Building Tooltips are freely accessible online here.
