Dr Amie Lai, Swire Properties’ Senior Sustainable Development Manager, is responsible for formulating and executing a corporate-wide sustainable development strategy for the Company’s global operations to achieve its sustainable development vision. Through engaging stakeholders, setting targets and developing corresponding action plans, she leads a team to manage the full spectrum of the Company’s environmental, social and economic impact and to integrate sustainable development into every facet of Company’s business.  

In her role, Amie engages and interacts with senior leaders within the Company to establish science-based targets (SBT) to align with the pathway of limiting global warming to 1.5°C, paving the way to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. She also worked on developing a green finance framework for Swire Properties’ first US$500 million green bond and HK$500 million sustainability-linked loan, responding to emerging areas of sustainability such as Climate-related Financial Disclosures aligned with TCFD, embodied carbon emissions study on building materials, and a strategic approach on resource management and circularity. 

Amie also led Swire Properties maintains its top listings on several global and regional sustainability indices and benchmarks– the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), and Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index.  

Amie is the finalist of WorldGBC’s 2020 Asia Pacific Women in Green Building Leadership Award. She is also involved in the WorldGBC’s Embodied Carbon Primer Project Taskforce.
