John by profession is a Building Surveyor & Sustainability Consultant. John Graduated with a Bachelor of Business Management (1st Class) from Mangalore University, India. He has a Professional Diploma in Property Inspection from InterNACHI School, Diploma in Sustainable Development, Certificate in Sustainability from BATH University, Certificate in Sustainable Cities from SDG Academy and, Certificate in Green & Circular Economy Leadership from University of Copenhagen. John is an Accredited USGBC LEED Green Associate, an EcoDistricts AP and an ARC Performance Pro.

John has a combined 17 years’ experience in green building consulting, smart & sustainable communities and cities advisory, GRESB consultancy, property condition assessment, real estate technical due diligence, asset & facilities management, zero waste advisory, circular economy advisory and, strategic sustainability consulting throughout East Africa. Before taking the CEO role, John served as Kenya GBS Vice Chair & Head of the Advocacy Committee for 4 years. At the time he was working as the CEO of BESIC Group limited, a business & built environment consultancy he founded in 2015. He is the developer and content publisher for the Recycling Marketplace, an online platform to accelerate resource circularity.

John has led Kenya GBS in numerous advocacy achievement in Kenya. He has been an instrumental part of the team that has steered Kenya GBS from World GBC Prospective status to Established status. He has led Kenya GBS collaboration partnerships with government and non-government institutions. Other instrumental achievements include work on the inclusion of Green Building in Kenya’s Medium-Term Plan III of the Vision 2030, advocacy work that led to the Kenya Government passing a Decree that all houses under the Affordable Housing program will meet the IFC-EDGE green building standard, involved in the drafting Kenya’s Climate Change private engagement platform where he chaired a couple of working sessions. John currently serves on several committees in Kenya namely; the Kenya Property Developers Association Affordable Housing taskforce, the National Construction Authority’s Alternative Building Materials & Technology (ABMT) research and Construction Waste Management expert’s steering committees. John also sits on Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) Environment Sector and the Land & Property Sector Boards. He has also been at the forefront in the implementation of the WRI’s BEA program in Kenya by Kenya GBS.

John is a resident green building writer for National Construction Authority magazine NCA Quarterly, The Association of Construction Managers of Kenya (ACMK) magazine and a guest writer for the Kenya Property Developers Association (KPDA) property magazine.
