James Drinkwater

Europe Regional Network


James Drinkwater is the Director of WorldGBC’s Europe Regional Network, advising on European green building law and policy for the network of over 25 Green Building Councils and their 5,000 member companies around Europe, coordinating their work with governments and major partners, as well as WorldGBC’s global advocacy work.

James co-leads BUILD UPON, the world’s largest collaborative project on building renovation which is funded through the EU Horizon 2020 project. It involves engaging over 1,000 key stakeholders across 13 European countries to scale-up deep energy efficient building renovation. 

James has a Masters from the University of Cambridge, and a background in corporate and finance law. Previously an associate with the Environment and Climate Change practice of global law firm Linklaters LLP, he specialised in advising global corporations on UK and EU sustainable real estate law and policy, renewable energy projects and chemicals regulation. He also previously worked for the Royal Institute of British Architects, focusing on sustainable building policy and EU public procurement reform.

James is based in London, UK.
