Achieving Net Zero Embodied Carbon

Empire State Building, 350 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY, US
Wednesday 25th September 2019

The recent IPCC report removes all doubt: to achieve the aims of the Paris Agreement and a 1.5 degree scenario, the building and construction sector must fully decarbonise by 2050. In addition to addressing operational carbon from buildings, this must also include the embodied emissions from the entire building lifecycle.

To mark Climate Week NYC and World Green Building Week 2019, the World Green Building Council will launch an exciting new industry report Bringing Embodied Carbon Upfront.

The report calls for radical industry collaboration to achieve decarbonisation, setting out the vision, goals, actions and milestones needed, as well as highlighting industry leadership paving the way.

At an exclusive executive breakfast event in New York, the World Green Building Council and partners will discuss this ground-breaking report, while leaders active in this sector will present solutions available to industry in tackling these emissions.

Confirmed speakers include

  • Cristina Gamboa, CEO, World Green Building Council
  • Krista Mikkonen, Minister for the Environment and Climate Change, Finland
  • Robert Ward, President & CEO, Commercial Development, Skanska USA
  • Mahendra Singhi, Managing Director and CEO, Dalmia Cement
  • Lena Hök, Senior Vice President, Sustainability, Skanska
  • Lars Ostenfeld Riemann, Executive Director, Ramboll Buildings
  • Zoe Knight, Managing Director and Group Head, Centre of Sustainable Finance, HSBC
  • Scot Horst, Founder, Arc Skoru on behalf of USGBC

More speakers will be announced closer to the date.
