Middle East & Africa Green Building Congress 2021

Monday 22nd March 2021 to Thursday 25th March 2021

Paving the path to sustainable, healthy and carbon free cities

Welcome to the Middle East and Africa Green Building Congress 2021, a virtual event organised and hosted by the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) specifically tailored for policy makers and business leaders in the building and construction sector.

The WorldGBC and its global network of Green Building Councils catalyse the uptake of sustainable buildings for everyone, everywhere, transforming the building and construction sector across three strategic areas—climate action, health & wellbeing, and resources & circularity.

WorldGBC is the world’s largest and most diverse network for green buildings, with over 36,000 members across around 70 national Green Building Councils (GBCs) who, for over a decade, have been a force of positive change. GBCs lead from across the industry and are committed to transforming the building and construction market through ratings tools, advocacy, education, and thought leadership. Together they have certified more than 3.57 billion square meters of accumulated green building space, trained 48,000 people in 2020, reached +500 million people and strengthened policy in 30 countries in the previous year alone

Building on the success of the first WorldGBC MENA Green Building Congress held in 2019 under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister of Jordan, WorldGBC held the second in 2020 under the patronage of HE the Minister of Climate Change in the UAE. Drawing from the tremendous feedback from the past two events, we have expanded our scope to include Sub-Saharan Africa in 2021’s Green Building Congress.

The WorldGBC Middle East & Africa Green Building Congress now represents a great opportunity to share the latest green building trends and knowledge throughout the architecture and construction industry, both regionally and globally, with leading corporations, government agencies, transnational organisations and their regional counterparts. It will be a chance to share best practices & regional case studies to collectively respond to challenges facing the region. The two-day virtual business forum will highlight means to ensure that buildings provide a high quality of life for people, minimise negative impacts on the environment, and maximise economic benefits - especially in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic health and wellbeing protocol.
