SUMMARY:Climate and Clean Air Conference 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Climate and Clean Air Conference 2025 is set to take place from March 16–21\, 2025\, in Brasília\, Brazil.   \n\n\n\nThis year’s theme\, “Accelerating Action on Super Pollutants: The Road to COP30\,” highlights the urgent need for decisive action. The event will bring together country representatives\, global experts\, and changemakers\, united with over 180 partners\, to drive accelerated solutions for mitigating super pollutants and safeguarding our planet’s future. \n\n\n\nThis year\, our focus will be on advancing NDCs 3.0 commitments as investment plans\, convening a Science-Policy Dialogue on Super Pollutants\, and exploring gender equity as a catalyst for climate action. We will also examine sectoral policies that drive emissions reductions. By sharing real-world experiences and demonstrating leadership—whether as GMP and Clean Air champion countries or by leading sectoral or regional initiatives—we aim to deliver a powerful message at COP30. \n\n\n\nParticipants will engage in high-level dialogues with country representatives\, leading scientists\, and civil society leaders to shape the future of climate and clean air policy\, with a strong emphasis on a just transition. Through breakout discussions on scientific assessments\, practical solutions\, and best practices within the CCAC’s six sectoral Hubs\, they will collaborate with peers and partners to drive transformative action and lasting impact.

SUMMARY:World Sustainable Development Summit
DESCRIPTION:The world is off track. According to the latest progress report on sustainable development goals\, of the 169 targets\, only 14% are on track\, while 20% are not even tracked. Disturbingly\, 14% show regression\, including critical areas like hunger\, education\, employment\, and the environment. The first global stocktake highlights the urgency\, showing that to meet temperature targets\, emissions must drop by 43% by 2030\, but current national commitments only achieve a 2% cut—pointing to gaps in both action and data. \n\n\n\nAcceleration on sustainable development and climate solutions is clearly needed\, for which partnerships are key. The upcoming edition of the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) will be held under the theme ‘Partnerships for Accelerating Sustainable Development and Climate Solutions’ from 5th to 7th March 2025.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Cities and Buildings in Transition: Systems Change for a Resilient Future
DESCRIPTION:Our cities and built environments have profound impacts on people and planet. Where people live and work\, how they get from one place to another\, and the level of access they have to basic services and infrastructure all have impacts not only on quality of life but on climate change and biodiversity as well. \n\n\n\nPlease join Systems Change Lab\, WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities and NewClimate Institute on October 31st to celebrate World Cities Day and explore the current state of our cities and the built environment as well as what action is needed this critical decade and beyond. \n\n\n\nThe cities and buildings systems are deeply interconnected\, both with each other and with other key systems in the Systems Change Lab platform like governance\, transport\, and energy supply. Intentional planning with a systemic lens is needed to decarbonize buildings and cities — and to ensure equity and access to basic needs like housing\, transportation\, energy\, water and sanitation\, food\, green space and more. \n\n\n\nHigh-level voices in these fields will come together to discuss the major shifts needed for sustainable cities and buildings\, where we are falling behind\, and where we are finding signals of hope. Join us to discover the role of cities and buildings in systems change. \n\n\n\nFind out more and register.

SUMMARY:Quantifying the Human\, Social & Environmental Impact of Good Design
DESCRIPTION:Spaces and places are first and foremost designed for the people who occupy them – yet they have an environmental and societal impact both within a local and global context. Often\, the benefits of positive environmental impact – and specifically to the occupants and society at large – are intangible yet significant. In many instances these benefits lead to economic advantages and fulfill the theory of the ‘Triple Bottom Line.’  \n\n\n\nUsing their own experience\, case studies and research\, the panel will highlight the impact of thoughtful design on human experience and society. Panelists will also share thoughts on efforts to quantify and monetise the impact of good\, sustainable design. The discussion will cover how the UK government is encouraging inclusion of social value in both public and private projects. We’ll discuss how the private commercial sector is responding to the social asks and incorporating in their projects\, and how designers and planner are addressing human well-being and greater social benefits. We will also discuss how social value is being incorporated beyond UK through voluntary certification processes including LEED v.5 and Fitwel in the United States and across the globe.

SUMMARY:Level(s) and the new Energy Performance of Buildings Directive: Discover how to help steer the decarbonisation of buildings with Level(s)
DESCRIPTION:Join our webinar to explore how the new Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) helps steer the decarbonisation of buildings through Level(s). \n\n\n\nWhat can I expect? \n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, participants will learn how reporting on Level(s) can help building professionals align with the EPBD\, by: \n\n\n\nGaining insights into the purpose and requirements of the updated EPBD in relation to the disclosure obligations of the ‘Life cycle GWP’ for the energy performance certificates.Exploring how Level(s) indicator 1.2 on the ‘Life cycle GWP’ facilitates the provision of information to prospective buyers or tenants in the energy performance certificate. \n\n\n\nFor further details on the presentations\, speakers\, as well as the background of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and Level(s)\, you can download the agenda below. \n\n\n\nDate/time19 June 2024\, 10:00 – 11:30 CEST \n\n\n\nDownload the agenda here. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to welcoming you to the webinar!
