SUMMARY:World Sustainable Development Summit
DESCRIPTION:The world is off track. According to the latest progress report on sustainable development goals\, of the 169 targets\, only 14% are on track\, while 20% are not even tracked. Disturbingly\, 14% show regression\, including critical areas like hunger\, education\, employment\, and the environment. The first global stocktake highlights the urgency\, showing that to meet temperature targets\, emissions must drop by 43% by 2030\, but current national commitments only achieve a 2% cut—pointing to gaps in both action and data. \n\n\n\nAcceleration on sustainable development and climate solutions is clearly needed\, for which partnerships are key. The upcoming edition of the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) will be held under the theme ‘Partnerships for Accelerating Sustainable Development and Climate Solutions’ from 5th to 7th March 2025.

SUMMARY:Green returns: the state of sustainability ROI in 2025
DESCRIPTION:Capital outlay on sustainable development\, acquisition of high-performance buildings\, or retrofit efficiency improvement for existing assets has always required a careful assessment of return on investment. Returns often need to be totted up both in direct financial terms and in carbon savings delivered against capital employed – given that even the most environmentally conscious building owners and investors must typically weigh up competing options. \n\n\n\nThis panel debate will assess how investment decision-making priorities have changed over recent years\, as both technology and business thinking have matured\, and where things might head in the foreseeable future. It will assess the role of green-linked funding\, tax breaks and grant schemes for the property sector\, and the potential penalties and pitfalls presented by regulation and loss of asset value looming in the future.

SUMMARY:Sustainability Summit 2025
DESCRIPTION:Sustainability Summit 2025 – Building Sustainability Together\, 18.3.2025 Helsinki \n\n\n\nThe Sustainability Summit 2025 event brings together experts from the real estate and construction sectors for a joint forum on responsibility and sustainable development. At the event\, we will delve into the themes of responsibility in the light of solutions and consider how climate work done in Finland is positioned in relation to the other Nordic countries. \n\n\n\nThe themes of responsibility and sustainable development have become increasingly close to everyday work\, and expanding reporting requirements and the regulation guiding operations place their own demands on companies’ operations. The requirements of our operating environment around the theme are becoming tougher\, and innovations and proven operating models set an example for other actors. When creating an increasingly sustainable business\, we must act as a common front\, sharing knowledge and skills. \n\n\n\nIn the program of the Sustainability Summit event\, we highlight concrete solutions from the perspectives of different actors in the KiRa industry and aim to talk directly. As the main organisers\, Kiinko and Green Building Council Finland want to create a discussion platform for the themes of responsibility and sustainable development\, and together with our partners\, we invite experts in the KiRa field to hear the latest steps taken in the field.

SUMMARY:IEA 10th Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency 2025
DESCRIPTION:The International Energy Agency’s 10th Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency is being co-hosted by IEA Executive Director Dr Fatih Birol and European Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen\, in Brussels on 12 and 13 June 2025. The event is being held in partnership with the Energy Efficiency Movement. \n\n\n\nThe 10th edition of the IEA’s landmark event comes at a pivotal moment. Governments agreed at COP28 to double the rate of global energy efficiency improvements by 2030. Achieving this goal is critical if the international community is to bring about the secure\, affordable clean energy system that can meet our shared climate goals. But progress must accelerate rapidly if the goal is to be met. \n\n\n\nThe 10th Global Conference provides the key forum in 2025 for Ministers\, CEOs and senior leaders to come together to chart a path towards achieving the doubling goal. They will examine how best to maximise energy efficiency’s potential to boost affordability for consumers\, industrial competitiveness and energy security – in every region of the world. Over two days of high-level panels\, roundtable discussions\, workshops and meetings\, participants will develop solutions for enacting stronger policy action and unlocking investment in energy efficiency.  \n\n\n\nA ministerial roundtable chaired by the co-hosts will provide the setting for government decision makers to discuss how to move forward. A parallel CEO roundtable\, held in collaboration with the Energy Efficiency Movement\, will allow industry leaders to examine the challenges and opportunities they face in order to overcome barriers to further progress. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to welcoming delegates from around the world to this pivotal event. Participation is by invitation only. If you have any questions then please contact efficiency.conference@iea.org

SUMMARY:WorldGBC: NDCs Building Local Impact Webinar
DESCRIPTION:WorldGBC invites you to the inaugural webinar in our #BeBoldOnBuildings COP30 series: NDCs Building Local Impact. \n\n\n\nThis year’s COP30 in Belém\, Brazil\, will be a critical inflection point for global climate action as countries update Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). In this webinar we will uncover the gaps and opportunities for policymakers and industry to #BeBoldOnBuildings; and officially launch our new ‘NDC Scorecard for Sustainable Buildings’ — a tool which enables governments to analyse\, align and action bolder building policies ahead of COP30. \n\n\n\nAbout the NDC Scorecard \n\n\n\nMost countries’ NDCs and policies are not ambitious or detailed enough when it comes to the built environment. Whilst 81% of NDCs reference buildings\, only 18% include quantified targets and just 16% outline funding strategies. \n\n\n\nOur NDC Scorecard tool addresses these issues whilst supporting governments and key stakeholders by: highlighting the gaps\, identifying action areas\, supporting advocacy engagement\, and preparing political actors to develop wider decarbonisation roadmaps. \n\n\n\nSpeakers \n\n\n\nWe are delighted to be joined by keynote speaker Antonio Francisco da Costa e Silva Neto\, Ambassador from the Office of the Minister of Cities in Brazil\, to share insights on the built environment ahead of COP30. \n\n\n\nWe will also hear from government officials and Green Building Council implementers in Brazil and the United Arab Emirates to discuss what a strong outcome for the built environment at COP30 looks like\, and the role NDCs play. \n\n\n\nAgenda: \n\n\n\n\nKeynote speech from Antonio Francisco da Costa e Silva Neto\, Ambassador\, Chief International Advisor\, Office of the Minister of Cities\, Brazil \n\n\n\nWorldGBC NDC Scorecard for Sustainable Buildings launch and live demo  \n\n\n\nPanel discussion diving into international and country-level NDC\, policy and community implementation in the lead-up to COP30:\n\nAntonio Francisco da Costa e Silva Neto\, Ambassador\, Chief International Advisor\, Office of the Minister of Cities\, Brazil \n\n\n\nFelipe Faria\, CEO\, GBC Brasil \n\n\n\nCarlos Andres Amaya\, Programs Development & Oversight Section Head\, UAE Government  \n\n\n\n\n\nQ&A
