DESCRIPTION:The world is off track. According to the latest progress report on sustainable development goals\, of the 169 targets\, only 14% are on track\, while 20% are not even tracked. Disturbingly\, 14% show regression\, including critical areas like hunger\, education\, employment\, and the environment. The first global stocktake highlights the urgency\, showing that to meet temperature targets\, emissions must drop by 43% by 2030\, but current national commitments only achieve a 2% cut—pointing to gaps in both action and data. \n\n\n\nAcceleration on sustainable development and climate solutions is clearly needed\, for which partnerships are key. The upcoming edition of the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) will be held under the theme ‘Partnerships for Accelerating Sustainable Development and Climate Solutions’ from 5th to 7th March 2025.

SUMMARY:Green returns: the state of sustainability ROI in 2025
DESCRIPTION:Capital outlay on sustainable development\, acquisition of high-performance buildings\, or retrofit efficiency improvement for existing assets has always required a careful assessment of return on investment. Returns often need to be totted up both in direct financial terms and in carbon savings delivered against capital employed – given that even the most environmentally conscious building owners and investors must typically weigh up competing options. \n\n\n\nThis panel debate will assess how investment decision-making priorities have changed over recent years\, as both technology and business thinking have matured\, and where things might head in the foreseeable future. It will assess the role of green-linked funding\, tax breaks and grant schemes for the property sector\, and the potential penalties and pitfalls presented by regulation and loss of asset value looming in the future.
