SUMMARY:Taxonomies and green buildings: How far have we come?
DESCRIPTION:In this Sustainable Finance webinar co-hosted by World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) and Climate Bonds Initiative\, we will explore how different taxonomies have addressed green buildings and the impact these have had on redirecting finance towards sustainable development\, with a special emphasis on the decarbonisation of buildings.   \n\n\n\nTaxonomy is a classification system which defines sustainable economic activities. In other words\, it sets out a definition for how industry can drive investment towards sustainable projects and activities in order to meet sustainability goals. In this webinar we focus on the vital role of green buildings in achieving these objectives.  \n\n\n\nHow far have governments come in implementing their taxonomies? What is the uptake of these taxonomies across the construction and real estate sector? SUMMARY:Building a Water-Resilient Future
DESCRIPTION:How we can align action on water across the built environment. \n\n\n\nThe fresh water crisis is one of the greatest humanitarian crises we face today.  \n\n\n\nThe current industrial practices of water use and disposal across sectors around the world are affecting over  a quarter of the world population in unhealthy ways. In addition to this\, around 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions are related to water use\, storage and distribution. Yet addressing these issues are some of the most overlooked aspects of building\, architecture and construction. So how do we change course and align buildings’ climate action with water? \n\n\n\nAs part of our commitment to increasing international alignment around sustainability across the global built environment\, World Green Building Council’s (WorldGBC) Circularity Accelerator programme is hosting a webinar dedicated to exploring the consistently overlooked issue of the water crisis. We will also dive into the relationship between water and carbon emissions\, and how we can align global action to implement circular life cycles.  \n\n\n\nParticipants will be able to: \n\n\n\n\nHear from international experts on how\, and why\, water has been ‘left behind’ in the prioritisation of climate action. What is the role of the building and construction sector in addressing this? \n\n\n\nLearn from case studies around the world on the solutions already being actioned to tackle water use.\n\n\n\nDiscuss potential actions to take forward as a network which can foster stronger alliances and collaboration\, and lead transformation.\n\n\n\nTake a deep dive into the position paper ‘Building a Water-Resilient Future’\, launched by WorldGBC in 2023.\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar will also explore the views and initiatives of international organisations\, as well as Green Building Councils and Partners from across the WorldGBC network\, to discuss how we can connect water to the energy crisis\, and build upon the dialogue to bring water upfront in the actions of the building and construction sector.   \n\n\n\nThe webinar will run on two sessions on the day to cater for different time zones: \n\n\n\nRegister for the 12:30 BST session here. \n\n\n\nRegister for the 16:30 BST session here.
