The Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC), established in 2007, was the first non-profit organisation in Vietnam to promote green and sustainable buildings. Its LOTUS green building rating tool, first released in 2010, covers a wide variety of building typologies for both new and existing buildings. The VGBC also carries out its commitment to raise awareness in the market through a wide variety of trainings and exam-based accreditation of LOTUS consultants. The council also maintains a publicly accessible database of green construction products and service providers.

Members include investors, developers, property managers, manufacturers, design firms, and other sustainably minded organisations. Many of these members along with academia serve roles within the VGBC’s Technical Advisory Committees (TACs) which helps continually expand the VGBC’s knowledge base and resources for the construction and property market.

To this day, with the support of key private and public sector partnerships and alignment with the WGBC, the VGBC continues to work towards its vision of “a healthy, resource efficient, and climate smart built environment for all of Vietnam.
