Americas Region gets a boost with P4G Award for Cities Climate Action Project supported by the Building Efficiency Accelerator

Saturday 20th October 2018

Buildings in Colombia and Mexico may get a green makeover thanks to expanded support for energy efficiency programs after winning a $600,000 award towards transitioning buildings at scale to save energy and prepare cities for a net zero future.

The funding is awarded through a partnership between P4G and the WorldGBC Americas Region and will focus on equipping Green Building Councils (GBCs) to deliver transformational change in building efficiency city policies and action.  One of the ways that GBCs are currently doing this is within the Building Efficiency Accelerator (BEA) partnership.

The power of this partnership is that it creates a replicable framework through which the public, private and NGO sectors can collaborate to deliver energy efficiency in buildings at scale.

Through the WorldGBC global network and its partnerships, cities will have access to commercially tried and tested building efficiency solutions. Additionally, the GBCs will help cities get started and realise their ambition on their energy efficiency pathway towards a net zero future.

Thanks to the scale-up support from P4G, the WorldGBC Americas Regional Network will be able to build on the successes of the BEA in countries such as Colombia and Mexico; as well as collaborating to gear up new cities in countries such as Chile, Argentina, Peru, Panama, Brazil, Guatemala, Costa Rica and El Salvador.
