Dar Group is a leading professional services group, providing global expertise from its leading specialist brands in infrastructure, architecture, project management and energy. WorldGBC’s Africa and MENA Regional Networks represent 17 national Green Building Councils (GBCs) and thousands of member companies.

Dar Group’s partnership will support the Africa and MENA Regional Networks’ priorities:

  • Position the built environment as a critical climate solution ahead of COP27 in Egypt
  • Launch the WorldGBC Africa Advocacy Manifesto to influence more ambitious sustainability policy across the Africa Union
  • Launch the Sustainable Reconstruction & Recovery Framework
  • Leverage regional challenges and solutions at the Middle East & Africa Green Building Congress
  • Strengthen guidance for sustainable infrastructure across the two regions

Dar Group will be joining this partnership alongside Founding Regional Partner Majid Al Futtaim.

Dominika Czerwinska, Director of Membership and Regional Networks at WorldGBC, said:

“Dar Group is a true global leader on sustainability principles across the built environment value chain. Just like WorldGBC, it supports an integrated approach to the built environment to deliver the commitments of the Paris Agreement.

We collaborated with Dar Group to launch the Beyond Buildings report in 2021, and we are delighted to continue working together through this new partnership.

As we respond to climate challenges and capitalise on the opportunities presented through sustainable built environments, Dar Group’s expertise will be a huge asset to the Green Building Councils across the Middle East and Africa.”

Richard Palmer, Director of Global Sustainability at Dar Group, said:

“We are delighted to announce our commitment to enhance our partnership with the WorldGBC to include the important region of Africa and the Middle East. The world is looking to Africa and the Middle East to show leadership on climate change, especially over the coming two years. Our regional partnership provides impetus to both organisations in supporting rapid decarbonisation, adaptation and broader advancement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

We recognise the importance of partnerships in delivering ambitious and rapid action on climate change. By partnering with the WorldGBC we are able to drive awareness across the region and effectively create bold, differentiated built environment solutions that will support global climate action and sustainable development.”
