Vice President of HuGBC Receives BREEAM Award 2015

Sustainable, certified buildings, and professionals were awarded on 3 of March in London: BREEAM Awards 2015 were given to the best of the best buildings and certifiers. At this event, Mr Zsombor Barta, Vice President of Hungary Green Building Council, was honoured with the BREEAM Country First Award. Mr. Barta, also Sustainability Director of the Sentient Group, is responsible for the certification of the Seoul SK Group headquarters, the first BREEAM certification of South Korea, thus gaining the recognition.

The Hungarian adaptation of the new BREEAM International New Construction scheme was also conducted and accepted by the BRE, and thanks to this achievement, Hungarian certifiers can use a system with country-specific environmental weightings. The adaptation was conducted also by Mr Barta, and Adrienn Gelesz, an architect from HuGBC Member MÉRTÉK Architecture Studio. The professionals have sent country specific data to the BRE and according to the latter has determined BREEAM country-specific weightings to Hungary.
