Welcome to the network: Cambodia Green Building Council joins WorldGBC as Prospective members

The Cambodia Green Building Council (CamGBC) is the latest addition to our global network. Beginning their journey as Prospective members, they bring green building practices to the Asia Pacific region, which is home to 60% of the world’s population, with more than 2 billion living in urban areas.

The vision of the CamGBC is that buildings and communities will cogenerate sustainability, health, and prosperity for the current and future generations. The greater mission is to transform how Cambodian buildings are designed, built, and operated to reach the Kingdom’s Net Zero Ambitions.

World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) defines Prospective Green Building Council (GBC) membership as bringing together key representatives from different parts of the building sector within a country and creating a founding group, who will initially lead the design and implementation of the GBC’s governance and business plan.

Joy Esther Gai Jiazi, Asia Pacific Programmes Head, WorldGBC, focuses on strengthening the Green Building Councils across the region. She said:

“We are proud to welcome CamGBC to the WorldGBC family and are greatly looking forward to the leadership, perspective and expertise which they will bring to our network.

“The Asia Pacific Network region is a dynamic community, serving an incredibly diverse geography. We are strengthened further by the addition of CamGBC, which joins our mission to create green buildings for everyone, everywhere.”

Chea Bunseang, Chairman of the CamGBC:

“Sustainable development is the pathway to the future we want for all because climate change knows no borders.

“Global sustainability is now the only avenue to future inclusive progress that can deliver the required Net Zero goals.

“And now that Cambodia is part of the global network of WGBC, my team and I will nurture collaboration on a global scale and will start by working alongside our ASEAN neighbouring GBCs on the Net Zero journey.

“And this journey will be driven by the Cambodian Green Building Council (CamGBC) practices with the promotion of  CAMEEL as the accreditation system of choice in Cambodia.”

CamGBC joins WorldGBC’s Asia Pacific Regional Network of 16 Green Building Councils.
