1. Commit
Commit to only occupying assets that are net zero carbon in operation by 2030 and ensure all new developments and major renovations maximise reductions of embodied carbon emissions, compensating for any residual operational and upfront embodied emissions.
2. Disclose
Measure and publicly disclose energy consumption scope 1 & 2 operational carbon emissions from occupied assets in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Identify performance gaps and opportunities to reduce operational and embodied carbon emissions while improving energy efficiency and disclose this through our annual reports.
3. Act
Work with current and future landlords to reach net zero carbon energy performance targets for occupied offices and continue to procure 100% renewable energy.
4. Verify
Publicly report progress annually against targets using 3rd party verification schemes and in line with approved Science Based Target.
5. Advocate
Demonstrate leadership by working with customers and supply chain to deliver the targets in the new Sustainability Strategy. By the end of 2030 all new buildings will achieve net zero operational carbon, be future-climate ready and optimise user health and wellbeing. By the end of 2040 all buildings will also be delivered with a net zero embodied carbon. Through support of and active involvement in groups such as Passivhaus Trust, BSRIA, CIBSE, BBP/Design for Performance, UKGBC Advancing Net Zero, and key customer frameworks Willmott Dixon will promote and encourage wider adoption of net zero buildings in all delivery sectors.
