I'll take action to decarbonise the built environment Name: New Zealand Green Building Council What you're doing: Hosting a webinar: Pathway to low carbon future with HVAC in buildings Not only is HVAC the largest consumer of energy in most commercial buildings, the refrigerants commonly used are extremely potent GHG emissions contributors. The environmental impact of HVAC and services on the lifetime energy use and emissions of buildings is therefore becoming increasingly recognised. Whilst regulators have focused on the efficiency of individual products, the integration of the different energy systems within a building perhaps offers the next step change in reducing building energy usage. New energy technologies, controls platforms and variable capacity refrigeration systems offers a platform of choice to better design and greatly reduce the environmental cost of comfort heating and cooling. Join us to discover the impact of legislative and technological changes on reducing energy consumption and contribute towards a zero carbon (carbon neutral) future. https://www.nzgbc.org.nz/Event?Action=View&Event_id=803 Speaker: Adrian Kerr – R&D and Compliance Manager at Temperzone Ltd.

I'll take action to decarbonise the built environment Name: World Green Building Council What you're doing: The recent IPCC report removes all doubt: to achieve the aims of the Paris Agreement and a 1.5 degree scenario, the building and construction sector must fully decarbonise by 2050. In addition to addressing operational carbon from buildings, this must also include the embodied emissions from the entire building lifecycle. As part of World Green Building Week and alongside the UN Climate Action Summit, the World Green Building Council will host an exclusive executive briefing and reception to celebrate the launch of its new industry report calling for radical industry collaboration to achieve decarbonisation. The report ‘Bringing embodied carbon upfront - Coordinated action for the building and construction sector to tackle embodied carbon’ represents a turning point for the whole sector, outlining the actions that government, industry and civil society must take to address both the operational and embodied carbon from buildings. World Green Building Council and partners will discuss the findings and actions from this ground-breaking report, hosted by Saint-Gobain at Press Club Brussels Europe. Sector leaders active in this area will present a number of solutions available to industry in tackling these emissions. Please note this event is by invitation only.

This includes 11 organisations from Australia and illustrates that driving forward the decarbonisation of Australia’s built environment is now a critical priority. Join us at this seminar to understand what impact carbon positive has upon your role and organisation. Our Head of Market Transformation, Jorge Chapa will explore the GBCA’s Carbon Positive Roadmap, which outlines the policies and actions required to achieve decarbonisation in the built environment and contribute to Australia’s international carbon-reduction obligations. Steve Ford, Head of Sustainability and Energy, GPT will then share the GPT carbon positive story. GPT has committed its company to achieve a net zero emissions property portfolio by 2030 at the latest. However, it’s the first portfolio to deliver the outcome will be the GPT Wholesale Office Fund in 2020. This bold vision has driven GPTs Energy Master Plan which holistically delivers energy savings and zero-emissions energy. Where emissions can’t be eliminated through renewable energy sourcing, GPT will offset emissions, exploring approaches that can lead to a carbon positive future. Sebastian Loewensteijn, Associate Director – Sustainability, Clean Energy Finance Corporation, will then outline what the CEFC is investing in for the future. The CEFC provides commercial finance to projects and technologies which are focused on renewable energy, low emissions and energy efficiency technologies. They are looking at what can be done beyond existing building codes to improve the energy efficiency and utilisation of renewable energy technologies in buildings. CEFC believe that the sector can play a key role in helping Australia achieve net zero emissions by the second half of the century. After a presentation from each of our thought leaders, we will then have time for discussion and for you to bring your questions to them. The seminar has been specifically curated for our Future Green Leaders to learn, network and take away key insights to enrich your professional knowledge.

Speaker: Adrian Kerr – R&D and Compliance Manager at Temperzone Ltd.

The building industry is one of the largest consumers of raw materials and energy in the world. It is responsible for 35% - 45% of all waste. Energy saving, healthy materials, intelligent use and re-use of materials are key elements of the industry’s sustainability approach towards a full circular construction. Mosa has designed, developed, and produced ceramic tiles in Maastricht since 1883. Sustainability is our foremost priority. To achieve this, we adhere to the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) vision, which helps us to make a positive contribution to our society, our economy, and our planet. The C2C label enjoys widespread recognition and contributes to positive scores for most international green building labels such as LEED, BREEAM, DGNB and WELL. How does this work? Does this apply to all building labels? To answer these questions we will host a webinar. In this webinar we will explain the Cradle to Cradle concept, the related product certification program and its link with ‘green’ and circular building goals. Mosa will be used as an example. Learning objectives After the webinar, you… 1. have an insight in why there is a need for circularity in the building industry; 2. know the Cradle to Cradle concept and how its application contributes to environmental and social sustainability; 3. understand the connection between Cradle to Cradle products and sustainable building labels like LEED, BREEAM, DGNB and WELL. The webinar will be presented by Diana Seijs, Senior consultant sustainability at Bilfinger Tebodin and Dorien van der Weele, Manager sustainability at Royal Mosa

Date: September 25, 2019 Time: 10:00am Address: Trg Republike 5 URL: https://serbiagbc.rs/konferencija-srbgbc-kako-gradimo-sutra/ Name: As part of this year’s World Green Building Week campaign, under the theme #BuildingLife, we are organizing a Conference titled „How we build tomorrow?“ The key topics handled are embodied carbon and carbon emissions within buildings, released throughout their lifecycle and the massive effect they have on increasing the issues of global warming. The conference will be held on the 25th of September, at the Cultural Center of Belgrade, in the ARTGET gallery. The aim is to provide information and answers to professionals in various fields. From the globally active topic of climate change, to expert viewpoints and outlined projects, the participants will also present the goals that could be achieved by changing various approaches within the construction sector – taking into account the entire life cycle of a building. Transformations are needed in all segments of the construction industry, from decision makers, the real estate sector, material production, design, construction, through management and maintenance, as well as the method of use by users themselves and to demolition and recycling or reuse. That is why the conference will be divided by these phases within the building’s lifecycle. Join us at taking the effort for positive change.
