Name: Mary Takawi What you're doing: I'm an Architect advocating for changing the way we design and build. I believe the architecture industry has been advancing, yet losing its way. As of the impact that we 'human beings' are suffering from right now. On the psychological level; those grey boxes we keep stacking, are not doing us any good, while we can actually look at the missing factor/element of emotion, we can design for the human wellbeing. Same on the environmental level, I believe that changing the way we build won't just help with the impacts of climate change, we are a part of the environment and it is all connected, green buildings, in my belief would help from the environmental and climate change aspect as well as the human wellbeing aspect. We have got a lot to change while we can.

That is why the goal of the Panel is to initiate a discussion within the auditorium that would lead to a constructive conclusion, after an insight into the current situation in the construction sector. Starting from ascertaining whether we can talk about the presence of good practice, or to conclude about the steps that we should take together in order to achieve it. The panel will be held in person in Serbian.

So what does it take to increase the bankability of infrastructure developments and how can developing a green building strategy play a part in this? In this webinar participants will learn: - The current barriers developers face in Africa when looking for investment - How to minimise risk profiles and create a bankable infrastructure project - What banks and investors look for when financing infrastructure - How green building can help with investor confidence

As demand for climate action increases, the construction industry is also reviewing its methods. The latter itself accounts for 36% of global energy use and 39% of energy-related carbon dioxide emissions per annum. The construction industry has its fair share of of blame in the global warming issue but this is related mostly to operational carbon – the carbon released into the atmosphere as a result of the building’s energy consumption. While operational carbon is important, there is also emobodied carbon – the environmental impact associated with extracting, manufacturing and transporting constructing materials on the job site, which is also important. It is critical that stakeholders understand the implications, risks and opportunities. The Paris Agreement sets out a framework to avoid dangerous climate change by limiting global warming. To meet the objectives and reduce global warming up to1.5 ̊C compared to pre-industrial levels, we must decrease emissions from the built environment by 2030 and fully decarbonise by 2050. Governments and companies around the world must step up efforts to make buildings and constructions greener.

One of society’s great challenges of the next three decades will be to balance the need for low-carbon urban construction with the need to conserve and restore thriving forests. Canada will find itself in the centre of this global crucible, called upon to provide “wood to the world” so that expanding cities avoid the worst climate impacts of building with concrete and steel. This event invites all who are invested in the future of forests and the built environment to anticipate, discuss, and find ways to resolve this quandary. Event: World Green Building Week: A Building for Everyone Date: September 14, 2022 Time: 11:00am Address: Online - Zoom URL: https://www.sustainabilitypartnerships.uk/events/worldgreenbuildingweek Details: The global built environment is responsible for almost 40% of global energy-related carbon emissions and 50% of extracted materials. By 2050, 1.6 billion urban dwellers will be regularly exposed to extremely high temperatures, which cause droughts and wildfire, and over 800 million people living in more than 570 cities will be vulnerable to sea level rise and coastal flooding. A large number of our hospitals and health care facilities within the UK were established long ago, prior to World War II when sustainability was not a consideration within planning and construction. Because of the historic infrastructure and structures, many of our current healthcare institutions are now facing challenges in fulfilling their sustainability objectives. As part of World Green Building Week, we will be inviting a panel of industry experts to come and discuss new products and processes available to aid the NHS to build a greener environment for the future. It’s time to put people back at the heart of the built environment and ensure we’re #BuildingForEveryone. Speaker Announcements Coming Soon! Organisation: Sustainability Partnerships

It now accounts for about 43% of energy consumption. Buildings overtook even industry in this indicator. • In large cities of Kazakhstan, there are already facts of shortage of energy, water and other resources necessary for the normal functioning of buildings, which makes it increasingly difficult for construction companies to obtain technical conditions for connecting to utility networks. On the horizon, there is a threat of a reduction in construction while maintaining high demand. • Kazakhstan is developing a Concept for achieving carbon neutrality, according to which buildings should reduce energy consumption by almost half by 2060. The expansion of Green Building in Kazakhstan will contribute to overcoming the above challenges. At the seminar in the online format, KazGBC specialists will talk about Kazakhstan Green Building Council (KazGBC), global trends in green construction, role of "green" buildings in the decarbonization of the economy of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Green Building Standard OMIR and examples of certified buildings in Kazakhstan. Organisation: Green Building Council Mauritius
