JLL UK, the UK division of global real estate investment consultancy JLL, has achieved 78 percent of its sustainability targets set out across its Building a Better Tomorrow sustainability agenda in 2016, including cutting absolute energy across all corporate offices by 26 per cent since 2012.
The company accomplished 14 of its 18 corporate sustainability targets set in 2016. Other successes included obtaining 35 environmental industry awards, and raising £630,000 for then charity partner, Starlight.
JLL, a member of WorldGBC’s Corporate Advisory Board, first committed to embedding sustainability in its corporate strategy, processes and business line services back in 2011, before officially launching its sustainability agenda in 2014, focusing of four key areas: clients, people, workplaces and communities.
JLL has also been a contributor to WorldGBC’s Better Places for People project on health and wellbeing in green buildings. The Building a Better Tomorrow report includes a focus on its Bristol office, which has improved energy efficiency, and created a healthy and collaborative environment, through natural ventilation and access to a large outdoor terrace and central atrium, with high rates of natural light and fresh air.
Chris Ireland, CEO of JLL UK, commented:
“Five years into our journey to embed sustainability into everything we do, I am proud of the progress we are making. In the last year, we’ve put a financial value on sustainability, launched our community programme and integrated our HR priorities in to our Building a Better Tomorrow agenda.”
JLL UK has set itself 30 ambitious corporate sustainability targets to achieve by 2020, including achieving 100% renewable electricity across the firm’s corporate estate, and working with clients to deliver five sustainable strategies or projects that will help transform real estate, infrastructure and cities.
Sophie Walker, Head of UK Sustainability, JLL, added:
“I want JLL to continue to play a leadership role in transforming the UK property sector and our aspiring targets for 2020 will certainly focus our efforts on achieving this.”
