Johnson Controls becomes first Partner of WorldGBC’s Americas Regional Network

Johnson Controls has today been announced as the first Partner of the World Green Building Council’s Americas Regional Network.

Johnson Controls is a worldwide technology and multi industrial company, with customers in more than 150 countries. Sustainability is an integral part of its vision and values, and it works to create intelligent buildings, efficient energy solutions and integrated infrastructure that will deliver smart cities and communities.

WorldGBC’s Americas Regional Network represents a community of 19 national Green Building Councils (GBCs) and thousands of member companies across North, Central and South America.

In 2017, the Americas Regional Network will focus on supporting cities in the development of building efficiency policies in partnership with the Word Resources Institute, exchanging green schools best practice with the Inter-American Development Bank, and on strengthening the overall business case for building green.

Dominika Czerwinska, Director of Membership and Regional Networks at WorldGBC, said:

“Johnson Controls is a true global leader on green buildings and wider sustainability initiatives, evidenced by its inclusion in more than 40 sustainability indexes over recent years.

“We’re delighted to welcome the company as the first Partner for the Americas Regional Network. Its experience and expertise will undoubtedly be a huge asset to the community of Green Building Councils across the region, as we collectively seek to respond to climate challenges and capitalise on the opportunities presented through green buildings.”

Johnson Controls’ commitment to sustainability dates back to 1885, when the company’s founder Warren S. Johnson invented the first electric room thermostat. More than 130 years later, the company remains committed to protecting people and the environment, and is at the forefront of driving technologies, insights and conversations that help customers become more resource efficient.

Clay Nesler, Vice President of Industry Relations, Johnson Controls, said:

“Progressive and successful Green Building Councils across the Americas have been driving market demand for more sustainable buildings and communities. Johnson Controls is proud to be the first Partner of World Green Building Council’s Americas Regional Network. In this role, we look forward to participating in conversations that highlight the economic, social and environmental benefits of green buildings as a critical platform for creating smarter, safer and more sustainable cities.”
