Petinelli Inc. Curitiba headquarters is a large laboratory and showroom for new concepts and technologies when it comes to Green Buildings.
The challenge was to transform an existing warehouse into a self-sufficient in water and energy office headquarters. The main part of the project was the retrofit of the lighting system, granting largest day light through the automation of curtains, light trays and other solutions.
The thermal load reduction allowed the correct sizing of the photovoltaic generation system in the roof area. To engender all the necessary energy, it was invested in a photovoltaic system with 56 modules and a 12kW frequency inverter.
When it comes to the water supply of the building, it was made the choice of taps and sinks sparer. However, Petinelli Curitiba has gone further, and currently has a system capable of reducing by 100% the water consumption in the building, with yearly savings of 120m³ of water. All wastewater treatment is made within the building itself.
The pioneering spirit is made clear when Petinelli implements actions to meet the goals of the 2030 Challenge, which projected a possible 60% reduction (EUI) of energy consumption per year to offices up to 85 kWh/m²/year. Petinelli exceeds these goals, reaching energy consumption (EUI) of just 24 kWh/m²/year, throughout its headquarters in Curitiba. The mission has been achieved with golden key, being the first Brazilian building certified LEED Platinum v4 0 + M via ARC platform, as well as reaching the GBC Brazil Zero Energy and the first LEED Zero Energy in the world.
