Algerian Green Building Council (GBC Algeria) is proudly launched by a multidisciplinary team of passionate professionals, united by a shared vision for a sustainable, inclusive, and zero-carbon built environment in Algeria. Each founder brings unique expertise and leadership to drive this ambitious initiative.
In addition to the core founders, the Green Building Council Algeria is supported by a wider national network of 21 founding members located across 12 different cities in Algeria. This diverse group brings together professionals from various disciplines—architecture, engineering, urban planning, education, policy, and environmental advocacy—ensuring a broad territorial and sectoral reach. Their strategic distribution across the country is designed to facilitate the propagation and localization of the Green Building Council’s vision, while promoting regionally adapted green building practices. Full profiles and roles will be shared once the responsibilities are officially assigned.
To lead the transformation of Algeria’s built environment toward a sustainable, inclusive, and zero-carbon future by empowering communities, supporting national climate goals, and connecting local innovation with global standards.
We are committed to advancing environmental responsibility in the built environment by promoting energy efficiency, circularity, and carbon neutrality in alignment with the WorldGBC Zero Carbon Framework.
We empower women, youth, and underrepresented voices — especially through partnerships like GWNET — ensuring that the green transition is just and inclusive.
We strive for high-quality solutions in green construction, design, and planning by encouraging innovation and embracing global best practices tailored to the Algerian context.
We build bridges with government institutions, donors (e.g., GIZ), industry leaders (e.g., Lafarge Holcim, Sonatrach), and international networks (e.g., WorldGBC) to drive systemic change.
We work hand-in-hand with municipalities and communities (e.g., through the “Communes Vertes” initiative) to scale up green building practices and raise public awareness from the ground up.
We operate with honesty, professionalism, and openness to maintain trust with our stakeholders and to support credible climate action and reporting (e.g., for UNFCCC Article 6.2 integration).
We advocate for buildings and urban environments that adapt to climate change, reduce vulnerability, and strengthen community resilience — especially in schools and public buildings.
