Modomo is a meanwhile housing pioneer, transforming unused land into beautiful, buzzing places to live. Homes are designed for relocation, and at the end of the land lease, they’re moved on to reinvigorate a new city space. Each development creates a positive ripple effect through inclusive community engagement, increased economic growth and the provision of sustainable, quality housing. Homes for now, change for good.

1. Commit

Commit to only occupying net zero buildings by 2030 and compensating for residual emissions. Commit to only developing buildings that operate at net zero carbon by 2025, and that are net zero embodied carbon by 2030 through targeting maximum embodied carbon reductions and compensating for residual embodied emissions.

2. Disclose

Measure and disclose energy demand and operational emissions of occupied assets. For new developments, measure and disclose embodied carbon, energy demand and predicted carbon emissions at completion. Report performance annually against targets in the Modomo net zero roadmap through a publicly available Sustainability and Impact Report.

3. Act

Develop and implement a Modomo net zero roadmap outlining key milestones and performance targets relating to both operational and embodied carbon. Continue with a fabric-first approach, designing for performance in operation, minimising energy demand and reviewing the supply chain to minimise embodied emissions.

4. Verify

Verify data on asset operational and embodied carbon emissions via a third party audit, and demonstrate enhanced energy performance of new buildings through relevant certification.

5. Advocate

Advocate for asset emission reductions through bold leadership and close collaboration with the supply chain. Advocate for industry wide transformation using our platform as an innovative housing pioneer startup to encourage action from the wider industry.
