Sustainable Building Council Greece achieves Emerging GBC Status

Sustainable Building Council Greece (SBC Greece) has achieved Emerging Green Building Council status, as part of the World Green Building Council's (WorldGBC) membership.

Previously a Prospective GBC, the first tier of WorldGBC membership, SBC Greece has now progressed in its sustainable building journey to become Emerging. This has been achieved in acknowledgement of SBC Greece’s leading position and positive contribution towards a more sustainable built environment in Greece.

Pantelis Levantis, President of SBC Greece, said:

SBC Geece foundation has achieved a very important milestone, earned by dedication, hard work, high level of ethics and profound sustainability knowledge, whilst also maintaining a strong mix of significant members in the Greek market. This development is also a step towards making SBC Greece the leading institution in Greece for sustainability in the built environment. It will provide us with more resources and access to funding in order to further achieve our goals, such as to educate the market and act as the primary source of knowledge and collective action to transform the buildings and construction sector in Greece. Finally, it will allow us to offer our members and partners opportunities for further education and collaboration in WorldGBC European projects.”

Dominika Czerwinska, Membership and Regional Networks Director, WorldGBC said:

"I am delighted to welcome SBC Greece to the next stage of WorldGBC's membership. This progression signifies their dedication to growing a strong, local market for sustainable buildings and a powerful members network. They send an inspiring message to all global markets who are on this journey.”

SBC Greece is an independent, non-profit organisation which aims to establish a sound, sustainable culture and behaviours alongside the diverse nature of Greece's built environment stakeholders. It also aims to lead and facilitate the transformation of the built environment and its communities in Greece, to plan, develop, construct, maintain and operate sustainably.

SBC Greece is also a member of the WorldGBC’s European Regional Network of over 20 Green Building Councils.
