1. Commit

Commit to reducing, and, where necessary, compensating all operational emissions of assets within direct management control by 2030. Commit to reducing embodied carbon emissions for new developments and major renovations, and compensate for any residual upfront embodied emissions, by 2030.

2. Disclose

Measure and disclose scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions and whole-life carbon emissions, where applicable, at the portfolio level, in the annual sustainability report prepared in accordance with the global sustainability reporting standards, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). 

3. Act

Develop a decarbonisation roadmap to set milestones and emission targets for all assets within the portfolio. Reduce energy consumption by refurbishing existing properties with energy-efficient fixtures and switching to renewable energy, where available. Reduce embodied carbon by adopting sustainable building design and responsible sourcing of raw materials for the construction of new properties, in line with the SGBC Embodied Carbon Pledge.

4. Verify

Obtain asset-level building certification or annual third-party verification of portfolio-wide energy consumption and whole-life carbon emissions.

5. Advocate

Demonstrate leadership in advocating for wider emission reductions by engaging key stakeholders such as employees and residents to adopt sustainable practices within dormitories, including energy saving, water conservation and good waste management with recycling practices.
