1. Commit

IPUT is committed to owning assets operating at net zero carbon within areas of direct control by 2030, and developing assets that are built to operate at net zero by 2030, with maximum reduction in embodied carbon with compensation for any residual upfront emissions.

2. Disclose

Energy consumption and scope 1,2 and 3 emissions data is included in IPUT’s annual 2021 Responsibility Report and each year thereafter. They will continue to report progress against their 2019 baseline in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and share this with the World Green Building Council. IPUT will also commence measuring and disclosing whole life embodied carbon emissions for new developments and major renovations in the near future.

3. Act

IPUT’s decarbonisation pathway aims for an overall emission reduction of 40% by 2030. Their pathway to net zero carbon includes key actions to reduce embodied carbon, reduce building energy intensity, increase renewable energy, and offset residual emissions as a final step. They have set targets for each of these pathway pillars.

4. Verify

Asset and portfolio level performance data is reported annually in IPUT’s Responsibility Report and is verified against the ISO 14064-3 standard by an independent third party. Where carbon offsets will be used, their impact will be verified.

5. Advocate

IPUT will use their market leadership position to advocate for innovative and sustainable practices within their supply chain, supporting the trial of low carbon solutions and implementation of circular economy principles during the design, construction, and operation of their buildings.
