The Municipality of Medellín is committed to developing detailed plans to ensure all buildings operate at net zero carbon by 2050, with more stringent measures in the area of sustainable construction, than national requirements, to accelerate action
The Climate Action Plan, currently under development, will establish the roadmap for prioritisation and interventions in buildings with high carbon emissions, and the establishment of guidelines, goals, programs and projects for new buildings
Establish mechanisms for evaluation, monitoring, corrective measures and compliance indicators
Supporting incentives and programs include tax rate benefits and deductions, housing subsidies, and green credits to be established directly by the municipality or in association with financial institutions or banks
The municipality is committed to own, occupy and develop only assets that are net zero carbon in operation by 2030
The Municipal and Metropolitan Sustainable Construction Policies and Plans include the goal of zero carbon emissions for all new municipal buildings including buildings for public use
Implement efficiency actions and savings in existing buildings
Established baselines, for energy demand and carbon emissions for the construction and operation of municipal buildings to be updated and used to set actions to reduce emissions and reach the commitment, through the collaboration with industry and multiple dependencies that integrate the Municipal Administration
The roadmap will be developed in the first quarter of 2019 and the corresponding actions will be implemented in the period 2019-2023
