Lead the way to a 100% renewable energy future, committing to net zero carbon emissions from Australian campuses by 2030.

2. Disclose

Energy data is collected and emissions calculated according to the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) Determination 2008. Environmental performance data is publicly available in the Monash University Annual Report.

3. Act

Implementation of The Monash Net Zero Initiative which is based on four pillars of decarbonisation: ambitious energy efficiency, renewable energy, electrification/ fuel switching and offsetting residual emissions.

4. Verify

Monash will engage a third party auditor to conduct assurance audits in accordance with the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Audit) Determination 2009.

5. Advocate

Monash wants the next generation to power a sustainable world. The university will share the lessons learnt during its energy transformation to benefit other communities and drive innovation through study and research programs.
