1. Commit
Commit to owning and occupying net zero carbon assets in operation from 2020 onwards. Achieve maximum reductions of embodied carbon and compensate for any remaining residual upfront embodied emissions where applicable by 2030.
2. Disclose
Measure and disclose scope 1 and 2 operational carbon emissions, and whole life carbon emissions if applicable, via publicly available Annual Zero Carbon Report.
3. Act
Continue to implement Walsh’s Sustainability Mission Statement, implementing energy efficiency measures, securing renewable energy supply and reducing whole life emissions. Review targets annually to ensure their relevance and efficacy in achieving net zero carbon across scopes 1, 2 & 3.
4. Verify
Verify energy consumption and whole life carbon emissions in line with Walsh’s Environmental Management System certified to ISO 14001. Verify operational carbon emissions annually via independent third party.
5. Advocate
Advocate for industry wide emissions reductions, by displaying exemplary best practice, including normalising multi-stage embodied carbon calculations on all projects. Maintaining engagement with clients, design team Consultants, and peers to promote efficient, low carbon designs – sharing data, performance, and progress where applicable. Target net zero carbon across all scopes by 2040.
