Commit to all assets within direct control to to achieve net zero operational carbon by 2030. All new developments and any major renovations of existing assets will maximise embodied carbon reductions, and compensate for any remaining residual upfront embodied carbon emissions by 2030.
Measure and disclose asset and portfolio energy consumption and whole life carbon data, where appropriate, via the Real Estate Environmental Benchmark programme and The Carbon Disclosure Project. Continue to improve data collection and reporting methodologies for all aspects of scope 1, 2 and 3 (embodied carbon) emissions.
Develop and implement a decarbonisation roadmap which will include asset level plans across Bruntwood’s estate, covering both embodied and operational carbon, taking a whole life carbon approach. This will be updated annually and progress reported both internally and externally.
Instruct an independent third-party audit of scope 1 & 2 emissions annually to create a robust verification regime. Scope 3 (embodied carbon) will also be included from late 2022. Include verification of predicted performance through existing benchmarks and certification schemes for any new developments.
Continue to use the current network of colleagues, customers and partners in communities of operation, to advocate for a just transition to a net zero economy. As industry leaders, Bruntwood will work to engage, educate and inspire others within the value chain in a form of collaboration efforts towards a net zero future.
