Daikin is the newest partner to join WorldGBC’s growing Americas Regional Network

We welcome world industry leaders Daikin as the latest regional partner to join World Green Building Council’s (WorldGBC) Americas Regional Network, showing their dedication to accelerating sustainable built environments.

Daikin is a Japanese company founded in 1924, which offers the widest range of heat pump, air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration and applied system solutions in the market. The Daikin Latin American Operations (DLAO) established the Latin America Head Office in Mexico in 2013 to accelerate business expansion in the region.

Daikin’s partnership will support the priorities of WorldGBC’s Americas Regional Network, representing 17 Green Building Councils (GBCs) and their thousands of member companies.

The coordination activities in WorldGBC’s Regional Networks are in part funded by regional partners, which are typically members of national GBCs, and leaders of sustainability within the built environment.

WorldGBC’s five regional networks are powerful, collaborative platforms, where GBCs can effectively exchange knowledge, generate new ideas and design solutions that speed up sustainable building in their own markets and across the region.

Juanita Alvarez, Head of Engagement & Networks, WorldGBC, said:

“We are proud to welcome Daikin to the WorldGBC family! They are industry leaders and pioneers in advocating for carbon neutrality within built environments around the globe.

“The Americas region is one of the world’s most urbanised areas, which is expected to be home to over 315 million people by 2025. As an active and diverse area, we are very excited to work with Daikin to address the green building opportunities and challenges that are specific to the region.”

Shigeki Hagiwara, Senior Associate Officer, Chairman of Latin America Operations, Daikin, said:

“Globally, Daikin is committed to reduce 30% carbon emissions in 2023, 50% in 2025 and Net Zero Emissions in 2050. In Latin America, Daikin will make every type of HVAC equipment; residential, commercial and industrial, far more efficient and use eco-friendly refrigerants with lower Global Warming Potential (GWP), as well as new service solutions that do not contribute as much to greenhouse gases, and will help building efficiency, while keeping them affordable. To achieve Net Zero emission, we would like to collaborate with stakeholders, industry key players, etc.”
