Green Building Council Denmark (GBC DK) is the latest addition to the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) network. Joining WorldGBC as Established members, they bring Denmark’s building and construction sector experience to the Europe Regional Network (ERN), a community of 24 national GBCs, 8 Regional Partners, and more than 5,000 members across Europe. Green Building Councils (GBCs) in the ERN are from both EU and non-EU countries.
Green Building Council Denmark was founded in 2010 to promote sustainability efforts in the construction and real estate industry in Denmark. The non-profit organisation works with their members to set a common and ambitious direction for a sustainable future, economically, socially and environmentally. GBC DK develops and issues the DGNB-certification for the Danish industry. The Danish construction industry is constantly moving towards the use of more sustainability measures and GBC DK is continuously pushing the bar to set demands higher within the DGNB system.
Stephen Richardson, Senior Impact Director, WorldGBC, said:
“GBC DK is passionate about bringing sustainability to the entire construction and real estate sector and we are very proud to welcome them to the WorldGBC family. Their strong leadership, expertise and collaboration are already adding strength to our network, and take us closer to our shared goal of Europe becoming a climate neutral continent.
“We are at a pivotal time in Europe, and industry and political leaders must step up to ensure that a sustainable built environment is at the heart of Europe’s future. In this we are strengthened further by the cooperation of GBC DK.”
Annemarie Munk Riis, CEO of Green Building Council Denmark, said:
“In Green Building Council Denmark we are thrilled to become part of WorldGBC. We see great opportunities in international collaboration to contribute to and obtain new knowledge about a sustainable future in the building industry. The climate and biodiversity crises see no borders – it is important to collaborate internationally.”
Green Building Council Denmark joins WorldGBC’s European Regional Network of 24 Green Building Councils.
