November 17 @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm EEST
As the global climate agenda shifts from ambition to implementation, buildings and construction have a critical role to play in delivering national climate goals, supporting resilient cities, and accelerating the energy transition. This session will explore how national climate action roadmaps are helping governments, industry, finance and civil society translate commitments into action through coordinated policy, investment and market transformation.
Against the backdrop of COP31, the discussion will examine how roadmaps can support emerging priorities for the built environment, including climate resilience, building electrification, ambitious energy efficiency targets, renewable energy integration, whole-life carbon reduction and circular construction. Speakers will showcase how WorldGBC, GlobalABC and national Green Building Councils are working with governments and partners to move beyond roadmap development and drive implementation at scale.
Drawing on examples from Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe and MENA, panellists will share lessons on setting measurable targets, securing government endorsement, mobilising finance, building capacity and establishing accountability mechanisms that accelerate delivery. The session will highlight practical solutions, common challenges and replicable models that can help countries and cities turn plans into progress.
Participants will leave with actionable insights on using climate action roadmaps as implementation platforms that deliver efficient, electrified, resilient and low-carbon buildings while contributing to a strong and ambitious outcome for buildings and construction at COP31, including the proposed Antalya compact.
