The Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC) is an industry-led not-for-profit that supports and champions green buildings. With a thousand corporate members, CAGBC represents the whole gamut of the building sector – designers, architects, engineers, construction companies, owners, and operators – all the people and businesses involved in building design, construction, and operation.
Over CAGBC’s 20 years, we have proven that green buildings are a powerful tool for positive change. They offer Canada its best chance at decisive climate action, improved community resiliency, lower environmental impacts, and safe, healthy, affordable places for people to work and live.
To aid the sector in the transition towards greater sustainability, CAGBC provides products and services that support the construction and management of green buildings, including certification programs such as LEED® or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, TRUE for zero waste, Investor Ready Energy Efficiency for retrofits, and the made-in-Canada Zero Carbon Building standards. We continuously work with the sector to influence norms, develop best practices, and educate the market on the benefits of green buildings.
CAGBC is also shaping the future of green building through market-led research and government advocacy. By influencing government programs and policies, we can accelerate green buildings at scale, lower carbon emissions, and deliver a more sustainable and resilient future for all Canadians.
