This week, Green Building Council Iceland became the newest member of the World Green Building Council, joining at the Prospective level of membership.

James Drinkwater, Head of WorldGBC's Europe Regional Network, said: "We are delighted to welcome Green Building Council Iceland to the World Green Building Council's network of nearly 70 national Green Building Councils around the world. We look forward to their team leading strong progress on sustainable building practice in Iceland, and joining us in leading debate on the European and global stage."

Þórhildur Fjóla Kristjánsdóttir, CEO of Green Building Council Iceland, said: “We are looking forward to becoming part of the WorldGBC network to increase our participation globally in transforming the built environment towards sustainability. We are excited to connect regionally with other GBCs, to exchange knowledge, ideas and experience of positive accomplishments in achieving shared goals. Our members will also have the benefit of being recognised worldwide as supporters of a sustainable future. But, above all, it allows us to advance green building practice in Iceland, helping achieve environmental, economic and social challenges.”
