Ilari has a degree in mechanical engineering from Helsinki University of Technology and over 30 years of experience in various management, business development and technology R&D roles related to the built environment, construction and building services industries. After having worked for 10 years in research in low energy construction and renewable energy utilisation in buildings, and for almost ten years in management of energy efficiency and renewable energy uptake programs, he joined Uponor in 2006.
Ilari is a former Chair and Member of the Board of Directors of WorldGBC, and a past chair of the Board of Green Building Council Finland. He currently serves as Board Member and Vice President of Water Europe, Chair of Working Group Product Safety & Water Quality at The European Plastic Pipes and Fittings Association (TEPPFA), Executive Council Member of the European Heating Industry Association (EHI), Board Member and Treasurer of the European Built Environment, Construction and Energy Efficient Buildings Technology Platform (ECTP), Vice President of ENCORD (European Network of Construction Companies for R&D) and as Member of the Industry Advisory Forum of CEN-CENELEC.
