Avara Amplus is a residential real estate fund specialising in subsidised rental apartments. The residential real estate portfolio comprises more than 4,000 affordable apartments across Finland. The investment and asset management services of the fund are taken care of by Avara Oy.The Avara Amplus real estate portfolio is dedicated to achieving the World Green Building Council’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment by 2030. To achieve the goal, a carbon neutrality roadmap was prepared during 2021 and several steps towards the goal have already been made.

1. Commit
Avara Amplus is committed to reducing and compensating for all portfolio operational carbon emissions by 2030. For new developments and major renovations, Avara Amplus is committed to maximising embodied carbon reductions and compensating for any residual upfront embodied carbon by 2030.
2. Disclose
Measure and publicly disclose annual energy consumption and carbon emissions through Avara’s annual sustainability report based on GRI reporting standard. Emissions are divided to scope 1 and 2 as well as scope 3 major renovations.
3. Act
Continue implementing the net zero carbon roadmap which demonstrates the processes to the goal: reduce real estate energy consumption and improve efficiency as much as possible, utilise the potential climate benefits produced by buildings, buying renewable energy and compensating the remaining emissions. Maximise embodied carbon emissions reductions through delivering efficient and low carbon designs, materials and construction processes.
4. Verify
Verify real estate portfolio’s energy consumption and carbon emission data annually by an independent third party.
5. Advocate
Avara Amplus acts as a forerunner subsidised portfolio by executing green investments to over 140 residential real estates. The transition towards net zero is implemented in close cooperation with wide range of partners.
