Glumac offers high-end building planning, consulting, and engineering services for a sustainable built environment. Guided by their Climate Commitment Action Plan, they are on a mission to achieve the AIA 2030 and Carbon Leadership Forum MEP 2040 commitments for net zero energy and carbon facilities. Working within Tetra Tech’s High Performance Buildings Group, Glumac partners with Hoare Lea (Europe), NDY (Asia-Pac), and Cosentini (East Coast US) to serve clients around the world.

1. Commit

Commit to reduce and neutralise operational carbon across their tenanted spaces by 2030. Commit to maximise reasonably achievable reductions of embodied carbon for any new developments or major office renovations starting in 2025 and compensating for any residual upfront embodied carbon emissions starting in 2030, as applicable.

2. Disclose

Disclose annual reductions of Scope 1 and 2 emissions (and whole life carbon emissions as applicable) in a publicly available annual report. Purchase carbon credits to offset the remaining impact.

3. Act

Glumac is guided by their Net Zero Action Plan. This 2030 roadmap details office strategies to reduce energy use, carbon emissions including refrigerants, and the embodied carbon impact from major renovations, where they have direct control. Further, the plan lays out a timeline for each office to achieve net zero carbon through these reductions and other strategic means, including renewable power, base building electrification, lease renewals, and relocation.

4. Verify

Scope 1 and 2 emissions data will be audited and verified annually by an authorised third party. Audits will cover embodied carbon emissions from major office renovations as they occur.

5. Advocate

Glumac’s consulting and engineering design practice is directed by their Climate Commitment Action Plan and annual project reporting to the AIA 2030 and Carbon Leadership Forum MEP 2040 platforms. Through these commitments, their goal is to achieve net zero carbon in their engineering designs by 2030 and net zero embodied carbon in the selection of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment by 2040. Glumac’s Electrification Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) commits their default basis of design for all new construction and renovation projects to be electrified mechanical and plumbing equipment, not fossil fuel equipment, to the greatest extent possible.
