1. Commit

Commit to occupying assets that are net zero carbon in operation, and maximising reductions of embodied carbon across new developments and major renovations under direct control if applicable, then compensating for residual upfront emissions, by 2030.

2. Disclose

Measure and annually disclose energy consumption and GHG emission assessment on company website; monitor and disclose whole life embodied carbon emissions where applicable.

3. Act

As tenants, Grimshaw has put in place actions that reduce energy demand and consumption as well as energy efficiency. They have also acted to procure certified renewable energy wherever possible. They will also carry out Life Cycle Assessments and utilise low carbon design, materials and construction processes, in order to maximise embodied carbon emission reductions for any new developments or major renovations of existing assets, where applicable.

4. Verify

Grimshaw’s GHG emission assessment is checked by competent professionals internally and ISO14001 auditors. Grimshaw will seek independent third-party verification on energy consumption and carbon emission data.

5. Advocate

Grimshaw advocates a whole life carbon approach to their clients and supply chain. As architects, they have an approach to delivering net zero carbon buildings to clients, including reduction of embodied carbon emissions at their projects. They also actively participate in case studies and lectures to share learnings.
